- I can tell you to stay away from the USR Sportster and Practical
- Peripherals PM288MT. They both claim class 2 compliance, but neither seem
- to work with software that wants full class 2 or 2.0 compatibility. When
- it comes to Class 2/2,0, forget what the box says, ask the software vendor
- what they support. It's too bad; although the Sportster has the look and
- feel of junk, the PPI is otherwise a good modem. It certainly works
- better in data mode than the USR product, at least on the phone lines that
- I tried.

- The cheapo Cardinals with the Rockwell data pump (MVP288I) and the
- MultiTech 1932ZDX do work well for FAXing. Neither are pricey.
